San Salvador, The Bahamas

San Salvador, The Bahamas may be one of the most studied islands in the Caribbean, thanks to a field station that serves as a logistical base camp and world-class exposures of aeolianites, Pleistocene coral reefs, and shoreface stratigraphy. The interior of the island is known for heavy vegetation, hypersaline lagoons, blue holes, caves, and many unfriendly wasps.
